BEAUTIFUL RAW FRUIT BIRTHDAY CAKE

Who says we can't have a great tasting birthday cake made of fruits :-)

After all, there's jelly birthday cakes, there's birthday cupcakes, the sky is the limit, and it's all limited within our imagination.

I sometimes worry about cakes being served at parties.

You see, my first kid gets really hyper on sugar, and my second child is allergic to eggs, which is an important ingredient in a traditional cake.

So, when I saw a blog on a fruity birthday cake, boy, was I estatic. My kids loveeee fruits. They are fruit bats. They rather eat fruit than rice, bread or pasta!

Check out this blog http://livingfruity.blogspot.com/2009/02/party-pictures.html and see how they celebrate a birthday with clean, healthy raw food.

ONE SIMPLE TIP TO RID THAT BULGE FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Here's the simplest tip anyone can do to get rid of or reduce that bulge for Valentine's Day.

Skip dinner!

But if you get hungry, and feel you need some oral satisfaction, you can try eating some fruits. Chew on the fruits slowly. Do remember that eating a piece of fruit that is sweet is not the same as drinking fruit juice.

The other thing to satisfy the cravings is to drink lots of pure, clean water and go to bed early. I find sleep really helps me forget about me wanting to eat, and the bonus is I wake up fresher in the mornings.

If you REALLY must drink something, don't touch that beer in the fridge, and ditto for milk and anything laden with sugar.

There's really about 7 days left to Valentine's Day, so do try this tip. 7 days of skipping dinner is not such a hard goal to achieve.

Good luck to those for want to take up this challenge!

TRAVELING AND EATING HEALTHY FOOD

As soon as I send this message to you, I'll be jumping into my car and driving to Singapore.

I used to back pack all the time as a student, but halfway through my trips, I usually feel a little tired. I realised that I didn't have enough raw fruits and vegetables. Now, I always carry some fruit in my bag where ever I go. Try it! It's not really hard to get fruits while traveling. You need to have a small bottle of fruit detergent with you and access to clean water to wash your fruit. A fruit detergent, by the way, is a detergent that helps remove wax and pesticides from the produce you buy. You can easily get one of those all natural, bio degradable fruit washes from your local organic stores.

What's in my bag you ask? Bananas! Mother nature has come up with the perfect peel for the banana that makes it easy to bring along.

KILLING BABIES THROUGH MILK

I am so outraged reading about the 2 babies dead, and about 500 babies made ill, after drinking tainted milk in China.

Breastfeeding is the best way to protect a child from all these dangers. But I do realize it’s not possible for every baby. A lot of mothers have to leave their children and work faraway. A lot of mothers have to work the entire day and have to leave their children with caregivers. We place our trust in companies to provide the best nutrition for our babies and the babies end up being poisoned instead. Bad food cases are cropping up everywhere, not just in China. Children have been taken ill in USA after eating undercooked burgers, Malaysian children struck down with diarrhea after eating in dirty school canteens (cafeteria).

What a tragedy for us all.

We, as parents, as brothers and sisters, as uncles and aunties, as grandparents, must take responsibility to provide the best nutrition for our family. One of the best forms of nutrition, believe it or not, are raw fruits, raw vegetables, raw nuts, raw food, lovingly prepared by our hands.

I know we are all busy people, but I'm asking all of us to make a pledge to ourselves to do something about how we treat food, and where we get them from, and how we feed ourselves and our family. Get a piece of paper, write down what your pledge is, don't have to be long nor complicated, and stick it somewhere you can see it constantly, like on a stick it note stuck to your computer monitor. If you think you can't do it yourself, feel free to message me your pledge, and I'd be happy to contact you once in a while to check on your progress ....

Jasmin who is going to sign off and kiss her sleeping sweeties now.

ps sometimes it helps to have friends who share the same concern. Perhaps you could do an Oprah group thing where a bunch of you guys at the office will band together to eat better collectively.

pps speaking about banding together, what can we do to get healthier meals in school canteens? I'll write about some shocking, or maybe not so shocking truths tomorrow.
